The locals have spoken, and Hemisfair has listened. Hemisfair has partnered with six local breweries to host the closing ceremonies of San Antonio Beer Week 2013 on Tuesday, May 21 at the regularly scheduled Third Brewsday pop-up beer garden from 5-9pm. In contrast to previous Brewsdays, this Beer Week celebration will offer free craft beer samples to of-age guests all night long and a chance to mingle with the brewers themselves!
“The opportunity to be included in San Antonio Beer Week is outstanding and illustrates the public’s love for Hemisfair,” says Andres Andujar, CEO of Hemisfair Park Area Redevelopment Corporation. “Hemisfair will be home to a variety of community celebrations once redevelopment unveils one of the world’s great public spaces. Brewsday is just a taste.”

San Antonio Beer Week is dedicated to celebrating local beer and the community that enjoys it. Over fifteen tasty brews from Ranger Creek, The Granary Cue and Brew, Branchline, Freetail, Blue Star, and Alamo Breweries will be flowing from the tap, while the San Antonio Cerveseros talk shop on home brewing. Cryin’ DT Buffkin and the Bad Breath will be singing southern blues while visitors play washers on the lawn. Bite Street Bistro, Ridiculously Gourmet, and Lagniappe Today food trucks will all be serving up delicious grub to compliment the tasty brews, and guests should arrive early for a commemorative tasting mug.

Third Brewsday at Hemisfair, will be held on May 21st, from 5:00-9:00PM at the South Alamo Street entrance to Hemisfair. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for optimal outdoor relaxation. This will be the last Third Brewsday to make way for Movies by Moonlight and the summer heat. (Don’t worry; we will sound an alarm when the tradition starts back up again.)

The event is free and open to the public. Free parking for designated drivers will be available at all City-operated parking garages, lots, and meters starting at 5:00PM. Now for what’s going on next. In case you weren’t able to make our dinner with Ideas in Food’s Alex Talbot, you may still get a chance to experience some of the dishes that were served. Each night this week starting tomorrow (Thursday April 11^th), we’ll be showcasing one of the fantastic dishes served at that dinner. Dishes like the burnt end bolognese with smoked rigatoni, smoked pork shank with cornbread grits, collard greens and kimchi barbecue sauce, etc. Be sure to come in for dinner to try one of these original plates. We’ll be updating Twitter and Facebook each night with the daily special.

Expanding Hours:

We’re very excited to announce that this Saturday you can experience more of The Granary in your life. Saturday, April 13^th, , and every Saturday after, we’ll be staying open from 11am-11pm. Our market style lunch will be served from 11am to 3pm unless it sells out first, and then you can enjoy beer and wine on our patio until dinner service begins at 6pm. As the weather warms up, our patio is the perfect spot to enjoy a fresh craft beer in the shade. During the week our hours are still the same, so we’re closed from 2pm-6pm each day.

Events:

We’re also very happy to announce our first charity event: Pints for Paws! We’re teaming up with San Antonio Pets Alive! on Saturday, May 4^th, for a special adoption event. From 11am-5pm, SAPA will have ultra cute puppies and dogs that are just waiting for you to adopt them right outside the restaurant. Representatives will be on hand to answer questions about SAPA and educate people on how to help make San Antonio a “no kill” city for pets. Plus, for every beer sold during the time of the event, we’ll be donating a dollar to SAPA to help their efforts. So now you can feel even better about drinking that tasty beer since you’ll be helping fourlegged friends in need. So bring your dog down if you have one and come adopt another one while you’re here! Rescued dogs make the best pets. We know, as we have several adopted dogs ourselves and wouldn’t trade them for the world or all the beer in it. It’s bound to be a great time, so put it on your calendar today.
